GSPL was set up on December 23rd, 1998 with the express intent of revolutionizing and redefining the energy scenario of Gujarat. Creating maximum outreach of an environment-friendly fuel that would help develop the industrial, domestic and transmission sectors was a significant and desirable goal.
Within a span of twelve years, we have set up a grid that operates across 1874 km spanning sixteen districts and is expanding further. This is a remarkable achievement as it requires many factors to enable the accomplishment of a fundamental infrastructure initiative. According to me, some of these factors are as follows:

Having these key qualities in place has facilitated the creation of a grid while adhering to a time-cost matrix.
This rapidly expanding grid demands 24X7 monitoring and I must commend the commitment and dedication of our O&M team in enhancing the reliability of this critical network while closely adhering to stringent health, safety and environmental norms. It strongly endorses my belief that our team is well-equipped to take on even more complex challenges in the near future.
In addition, it has been a satisfying experience to observe a lean and competent team of professionals and knowledge workers, project and management partners harness leading edge technologies for optimized performance and delivery. An instance at the operational level proves this – the SCADA system inputs real-time data from remote locations across the pipeline route, to enable online response and efficiency of the system across a robust Telecommunication network.
Currently GSPL operates in a smart technology-compliant environment and has introduced SAP R/6.0 in a phased manner to facilitate radical changes at key functional levels smoothly. It pleases me that the team has adapted to it efficiently as it will help GSPL in aiming for higher levels of performance.
Given that Gujarat is gradually switching to a gas-based economy, the demand for natural gas is expected to increase many times over. As the common carrier with the largest gas grid infrastructure, GSPL can look forward to a future with impressive milestones.
The grid will expand further in Gujarat and supply gas to all the 25 districts of the state. This success will also allow us to replicate this model in neighboring states like Rajasthan that also have substantial industrial and domestic bases.
Lastly, energy empowers industries, homes and enhances quality of life. A clean eco-friendly energy fuel helps develop a healthier society and gives the impetus to create and sustain a vibrant economy. We must make sure that we are co-creators of an invaluable asset for the nation in the years to come.
