Energy has always been a key and leading driver of growth and development of any society. Energy consumption in India continues to grow consistent with the demand for sustained economic growth. With the path breaking initiatives of Government of Gujarat in the energy sector, particularly in the Oil & Gas sector, tremendous growth is being witnessed in this field. The vital infrastructure projects being undertaken currently would not only be a catalyst for economic growth, such intervention would most certainly improve the quality of human life in the direction of our avowed objective of faster and more inclusive growth.
GSPC is a leading player in the Oil & Gas sector. Natural gas being a cleaner fuel, has its inherent advantages and, therefore, the GSPC has decided to expand its presence across the natural gas value chain and has been constantly working towards securing a reliable supply of hydrocarbon resources at affordable prices to supplement the energy needs of the country.
GSPC’s Oil & Gas portfolio has increased to 64 blocks which includes 53 domestic blocks and 11 international blocks spread across Egypt, Yemen, Australia and Indonesia. In the midstream section of the value chain, Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL), a subsidiary of GSPC has emerged as a leading gas transportation player in the State. With a view to promote use of clean, green and efficient fuel for the small and medium enterprises as well as for commercial, households and auto-mobile sectors, Government of Gujarat has embarked on an ambitious plan to set up City Gas Distribution projects across all the districts in the State. To fulfill this vision, GSPC Gas Company Ltd was incorporated in 2005 with a mission to develop a gas distribution network complementary to GSPL’s Gas Grid spread across Gujarat State, i.e. at every location where the GSPL network ends, the GSPC Gas retail network starts and this has resulted in a strong synergy of network management besides ensuring that gas is adequately available to all retail segments in Gujarat with highest level of service standards with complete focus on health, safety and environment.
GSPC Group has successfully established itself as one of the leading public sector energy companies in India, consistent with its vision to become a globally competitive company in all segments of the value chain. The Group has accomplished many milestones over the last decade of its existence driven by the guidance and support of the Government of Gujarat.
The Group is now in the process of consolidating its operations and making optimum use of the resources available.
In order to meet the huge demand-supply gap of natural gas in the country, GSPC has started entering into long term contracts with international LNG suppliers, besides establishing its own LNG receiving and regassification terminal in Gujarat.
In this pursuit of excellence, GSPC today is successfully performing its role as a demand aggregator in the State of Gujarat and is ensuring availability of gas across all the sectors as well as accelerating development of infrastructure for the same. GSPC Group with the support of the Government of Gujarat is working towards development of a gas based economy which will ultimately ensure inclusive growth of all its stakeholders.
